I've got to bring it into the context of living in Germany.

Let's face it. We want to be a developed country, at least to enjoy the facilities of one. We want mobility, fast internet connection (maybe we can put this in our Christmas wishlist), eat at restaurants till midnight, furnish our house with imported furnitures, although when we look at the productivity of our people in general, we should be grateful the price of sugar in our country is not 4- or 5-fold that in Germany.

So we have petroleum, we produce sugar. Germany produces the car you use, the medical devices you use, some of the machine-parts in our sugar factory or oil-platform or oil refineries.

I hate price hike, especially if I don't keep any saving and I have a hungry family to feed. I'm just saying, if we choose to stop pointing fingers, start asking only what we deserve or start asking after we've balanced all the factors involved, start being productive, we'd be better off.

It's really important that you do so.

As for the eng-eng dict., I downloaded two. 'Search' the webpage for keywords '185395' and '119769' and you'll get what i mean.

It's also worth mentioning that at times qstardict may take longer than usual to process your request, especially between selecting 'plugins' directories and seeing it appear in 'dictionaries'. And no, it's not being a Qstardick. Be patient!

Herald dan penggunaan kalimah 'Allah'

Dengan nama Allah, Maha Pemurah, Maha Penyayang.

Mengapa kalimah Allah tidak boleh digunakan oleh penganut Kristian di Malaysia? Kerana:

1. Ini akan menimbulkan kekeliruan dikalangan generasi muda.

Jika kita tidak mengambil langkah drastik untuk membendung krisis ini dari akar umbi, maka adakah kita mampu mengawal bahan bacaan generasi Islam akan datang? Mereka akan terus terdedah kepada bahan bacaan yang bakal merosakkan pandangan serta pegangan Islam mereka. Perbezaan antara agama Kristian dan agama Islam yang sememangnya ketara, akan menjadi kabur. Lalu, mereka akan mengambil enteng, masalah-masalah yang berkaitan degan perbezaan antara agama Kristian dan agama Islam seperti isu menutup aurat serta pergaulan. Cukuplah naskah-naskah daiyah Kristian (karikatur terjemahan Bahasa Melayu) yang diedarkan kepada anak-anak Islam, yang menggunakan perkataan 'Nabi Isa', sekaligus memberikan impresi yang salah kepada mereka.

Sebelum ini, kerajaan tidak membenarkan naskah Bibel versi Melayu dikeluarkan dan diedarkan secara meluas. Mengapa? Adakah kerana kita mempunyai tanggapan yang salah mengenai peruntukan kebebasan beragama di dalam perlembagaan? Tidak sama sekali. Ia adalah kerana, melalui tindakan sedemikian, dalam diam-diam, hak agama kita pula yang telah dicabuli.

2. Mereka akan membuat tuntutan lain pula di masa akan datang.

Jika matlamat penggunaan kalimah 'Allah' dalam majalah Herald adalah untuk membolehkan diseminasi ajaran serta ideologi Kristian, maka sudah tentu mereka tidak akan berhenti di sini. Jika tiada yang mampu memperjuangkan kesucian agama ini, mungkinkah Malaysia akan menjadi seperti Indonesia di mana 'Panca Sila' memastikan kesamarataan semua agama? Konsep kebebasan beragama adalah tidak sama dengan konsep kesamarataan agama. Telahpun dijelaskan secara terperinci di dalam perlembagaan, bahawa agama Islam adalah agama rasmi Malaysia.
Jika kita boleh bersepakat mengiktiraf perlembagaan Malaysia, maka bagaimana pula perlembagaan yang sama boleh digunakan oleh segelintir anggota masyarakat yang mempunyai agenda tersendiri untuk merampas hak anggota masyarakat yang lain.

3. Permintaan ini jelas bertentangan dengan pegangan umat Islam.

Di dalam kitab suci Al-Quran, jelas tertulis 'Dialah Allah yang Maha Esa'. Dalam konteks Bahasa Arab, bolehlah dikatakan bahawa sifat 'Maha Esa' atau 'Yang Satu' itu hanya boleh dikaitkan dengan kalimah suci Allah dan kalimah suci Allah itu hanya boleh dikaitkan dengan sifat 'Maha Esa' atau 'Yang Satu'. Adakah sama penggunaan kalimah Allah di Malaysia dan di Indonesia? Jika 'memberi' kepada penganut Kristian bererti 'mengambil' dari umat Islam, adakah wajar aspirasi ini diperjuangkan? Adakah kita sanggup mengenepikan keselamatan sosial? Adakah kita tidak mampu mencapai kata sepakat di atas semangat perpaduan, hormat antara satu sama lain dan kedaulatan undang-undang? Semestinya umat Islam Malaysia tidak akan penat memperjuangkan hak mereka yang telah dicabuli. Maka ini cumalah situasi Malaysia yang 'unik' yang perlu diterima oleh penganut Kristian di Malaysia. Sesungguhya, bukan semua 'keunikan' bersesuaian dengan kehendak individu.

I’m flying now. I shall give myself a topic to begin with.

Let’s talk about women wearing skimpy clothing, shall we. First of all, its men discussing about women, let it be known. The bible says that your body is a temple. Non-believers can skip this part. So, what do you do with a temple? You let it become a whore house? That’s about the same magnitude as exposing your body parts, hence, deliberately turning you into sex objects. The architecture of a temple is an art. Not your behinds or your bosoms.

Non-believers, gather around.

Recently, I’ve read an article saying that women likes to commit fornication(s) – not all, be advised - with cads and later in life, when they think they would already be needing a father figure for their children, someone that would not leave them once their skin starts to wrinkle, they go look for dads. That’s the life of decent men they are ruining. Would those decent men still marry them, had they know these kinds of women are going to mother their children? Would it make sense to these men, the reasons these women put up to not have come clean the first day they met, like ‘even God forgives’ or ‘to come clean would tear up the family’ or ‘it’s time to move on’? The real reason is ‘I won’t get too far with him knowing that I use to be a part-time, for-free harlot, before’. If she is REALLY sorry for what she did, then she REALLY deserves a second chance, no doubt. That’s SECOND chance.

So what is the deal with fornication?

It’s committing extramarital sexual intercourse, yes. I think we would all agree to the fact that if we include the love factor into the equation, the winding road towards committing fornication comes to no-turning-back points that go far back from the point you take your clothes off.

Love is lunatic. It doesn’t reason, yet, it is smart. ‘God loves ’, ‘it’s only natural for a woman to love a man (and vice versa)(otherwise why would He give us hormones), ‘it’s pure’, and you name it. I’m sure that’s right. But the context of YOUR relationship just doesn’t add up, does it. The point is, it will try to justify itself.

Every sane individuals fear the destruction which comes in sequence.

I would like to stress out that it’s the ‘doctored’ religious practices that are making women look backward or ‘last year', inferior to men or incapable (not in control of their own self). The ‘doctors’ are as perverted as Bob Guccione or Hugh Heffner, only this time they use religions to cover up their mess. I’ll give an example of a ‘good doctor’: a Muslim brother who plans to have a second wife, who cannot pay his own rent.

One should not mistaken righteous religious practices with infested ones or ‘regional’ religious practices.

Now I would describe the feminists or the ‘sisters’ with their master plan of removing legal and social restrictions on females, as individuals who are tired of having to face ‘pious’ perverts and genuine perverts on two ends (one on each) of one road. They might think that they are liberal, emancipated or whatever they choose to believe in, but the fact remains that inside the minds of many ‘predators’ out there, they, in their skimpy bathing suits are sex objects, still. They can’t control that, can they? Porn industry could survive any emancipations ahead, with this kind of attitude, believe me. Now this could already ascertain that there are some things - not all, be advised - that are wrong about the ‘sisters’’ aspiration.

In the name of God, most merciful most compassionate.

The main reason why I traveled to Prague is to visit Akmal’s brother who’s studying in Olomouc. At least, it could serve as an excuse to travel and to kill some time before the new semester begins.

I might have underestimated the long and tiring travel from Deggendorf to Prague but knowing that you’re not the only one to have fooled yourself is good enough to neuter the disappointment.

The station at Germany-Czech border is the famous Bayerische Eisenstein. Although it should be famous historically, visitors do not look that enthusiastic. There, were only the three of us plus one visitor in the history gallery. There were no ATM machine although there’s always a need for one. If one wants to use a WC then he or she would have to cross the red line separating Germany and Czech Republic, but it’s not as far as it sounds. Here in this secluded area, their get-together occasion is at best; a flea market. Truly, the ambience is not welcoming.

The only logical explanation why they don’t have an ATM machine there is they’d want to make extra profit from the dishonorable practice of currency trade. They would gladly take your one Euro for the value of 20 Kroners when the market value is about 25 Kroners.

So we proceeded. There’s nothing wrong with the Czech train that we took from there except that it is relatively slow (compared to the DB) and that the toilets in that train ‘opens’ directly to the railway instead of septic tanks. I for one would not walk that trail.

After a long while in the train, from one station to another, we arrived at Prague or what the locals would call; Praha. This place is full of beautiful buildings, tourists, ‘restauraces’ and rubbish. I personally think that Czech people love to put unnecessary decorations on their buildings. I learnt that ancient Egyptians had lots of columns to support their structures because they couldn’t quite make up the use of arches. I learnt that they had Pylons to make sunrise and sunset clearly visible. But why on earth would someone attach a gigantic door knob on his or her wall? Why would statues of fathers and sons (bulky) be erected on the corners of a fine building. Verily, they are trying hard to look good.

From Praha, we took another train to Olomouc. Before that, we took a short walk in the city. Not far from the train station is the building of Malaysian Diplomatic Mission to the Czech Republic. I thought I could use this facility to perform my Prayer as it was already getting late, but to my disappointment, this one is just as dysfunctional as many others. I later performed my prayer in the train.

We were so hungry that we decided to eat at one of the many ‘restauraces’ by the pavement. We sat down and waited and thought about what we would like to eat and waited some more. No one attended us! The waitress and waiters saw us raising our hands, but they were too busy standing and looking around. A ’white’ couple took of after a while, not able to withstand the unfriendliness anymore. Then a waiter came, slow and sluggish as he approached us, unfit for the world as he seemed, but nonetheless; friendly. The special deal for the day was mushroom soup poured into a container bread. Looks nice and delicious and it’s only for 199 Kroners. Why not.

Me and Akmal ordered two of those. If I were to be the waiter, I would immediately know the type of customer I serve from the way he or she orders his or her foods, as to say; I could definitely tell a Veggie from a non-Veggie.

They prepared the soups amazingly fast. When it was already ready for serving, we learnt that the soup, what the Menu describes to contain only mushrooms (no trace of the word pig or ham or the like in the English description) has ham slices. The waiter tried to talk some sense to us and tried to convince us to see that somehow that was our mistake. He said that Czech people would always include pig flesh in their cooking as to not have it ‘bland’. For Pete’s sake. We were then, too careful with our choice of food, which is really a good thing.

I ate only the Omelet, but I also have to pay for the soup. So I ‘mutilated’ the soup without eating it as to deter the waiter from hogging it later on or to prevent the owner from re-selling it. Akmal did the same thing.

Before long, we were already on our way to Olomouc.

We arrived at Olomouc hl. n. at about 22:54. The train station looks rather ugly although it is adequately facilitated. Akmal’s brother was already on a bench, waiting. It’s the trains fault we’re not punctual.

We took a tramp to the university campus, the ‘DPMO’. It was a joyride, but they should have regular ticket checks…to be continued

Learning is more effective when students are ready to learn.

“Readiness, exercise and effect”

What does it take for a student to ‘be ready’? We have to examine this issue from physical, mental and emotional pivots. Let us begin with the most important: mental and emotional readiness.

“When someone is ready to perform some act, to do so is satisfying, not to do so is annoying. When someone is not ready to perform some act and is forced to do so, it is annoying”

-Edward Thorndike-

Let us imagine a classroom situation consisting of a model teacher who provides mental, physical

and motivational challenge, who creates interests, who overwhelms her or his classroom with

primacy, recency and intensity of subject matters, undyingly, and a ‘black-box’ student. How the

student should think and feel is of great importance.

*Motivation is not about knowing the value of learning anymore. It is too loose a concept. It is not about promises of wealth and assurance like what motivators sell. It is in fact about the strong purpose and the clear objective which blooms from a definite self-reason of learning a specific subject matter.

*In order to ensure an active and perpetual process of self-reasoning, a student would have to

develop the logic on her or his own. If students would have to learn mathematics, let them know,

initially from the teacher, the extent to which knowing mathematics could take them. Let them

know that with mathematics they could understand real-life events by breaking them down to

smaller, analyzable components. Later, the students would have to get creative with reasoning in

favor of mathematics, themselves. Upon understanding the richness of that subject, students would be ready to seek extraneous applied knowledge of that subject matter on their own. This is where Lateral Thinking comes into play. This is when a healthy and ethical Self-realization is much needed. And in favor of nurture against nature, I would like to stress out that preschool education is to answer for this.

Henceforth, we shall treat the student as a unit capable of experimenting with thinking and

reasoning and the teacher as capable of guiding.

*The principal of effect dictates that learning is strengthened when accompanied by a pleasant or

satisfying feeling. The emotions associated with a teacher or a subject is to a student, selective.

Therefore, the first impression a teacher or a subject matter creates would later translate into

prolonged dispositions and elaborated associative mood and temperament. The teacher should, for instance, be careful with using punishment, reinforce positively and recognize and commend

improvement.

*The basic needs of a student plus one are of no lesser significance. If education could secure these needs, then it is an over due security. These basic needs should be immediately available so that the students could be immediately ready. The ERG Theory (Clayton Alderfer) explains this in-depth. The needs of existence demands a student to be carefree of problems relating to physiology and safety. A student should have enough to eat, enough to drink, enough sleep, reasonable clothing and reasonable shelter.

*The needs of relatedness demands a student to have good social and external esteem. Healthy

connections must be established between the student and her or his family, friends, teachers and

environment. Moreover, these connections should be education-friendly in a sense that it promotes further learning. Let there be supportive teachers, friends and most importantly; parents of the student. Let there be minimal exposure of the student to negative influences generated by mass media, the society and the environment. This ideal is difficult for it is collective. Media should sanitize entertainment to avoid promoting hedonistic culture. Parents should continuously provide moral supports by example, through actions and verbatim. Teachers should be like model friends and model parents. Friends should then be the reflection.

*The needs of growth, that promotes internal esteem and self-actualization desires to be creative, productive and to complete meaningful tasks. The timid child of authoritarian parents is just like the timid student of an authoritarian school regime and the timid assembler of an authoritarian factory; looking forward to ‘weekends‘.

These fundamental needs and the preconditions it set are very delicate. A student who is exhausted or in ill-health obviously cannot learn much. If outside excessive responsibilities, interests, or worries weigh to heavily on her or his mind, if her or his schedule is overcrowded, or if problems seem insoluble, the student may have little to no interest in learning.

So far, it is clear that none of the factors that influence the way a student think or feel could be

completely separated from external factors be it at school, at home or in the streets, at least initially. Until we are ready to admit our wrongs, ready to change our behavior and to improvise the system, until the parents, the media and the society could agree on cooperation and understanding, there is no end to this problem.

*What the school as a single unit could do to compensate for the lack of cooperation on behalf of

parents and society is most importantly, suppress all forms of internal problems and petty politics. Assign a task only to those capable of handling it. Say no to favoritism. Tolerate not lack of competitiveness. Do not hesitate to discharge irresponsible teachers. Irresponsible he or she is when he or she could not deliver the aspiration of the education system, incapable of attending the students from angles other than formal education.

*What is physical readiness? Contextually, several points related to this such good health and

fulfilled needs have already been uncovered. What is still unclear in the light of a discussion of how a student should be, is indefinitely how a teacher should be.

To facilitate students’ physical readiness, teachers would have to make amend. They have to be

ready to work extra hours. They have to consider the problems of their students as their own. They have to see the students as their own children. They could not afford to be lazy or opt for too much maternity leaves if it obstructs the education process. But none of these efforts should impede the active learning process as suggested by Thorndike. This is important to support self-efficacy of lifelong learning.

*I shall sum the arguments related to a coordinated school health into the several following:

physical activities, healthy school environment, nutrition, mental health (counseling), health

services and student, family and community partners.

*I shall sum the newly envisioned interaction between teachers and students into the following:

Focusing on responsibility, Providing company, skills and knowledge and creating critical thinkers.

*Actions should be put forth to counteract negative subcultures within school that are not education friendly. This is no rudimentary aspect of the enterprise. The school would have to identify them through often negative relations to work and study, to their negative relation to class, through their association with territory, physical or imaginative, through their stylistic ties to excess and exaggeration and most importantly through their refusal of conformation to the ordinary and should-be life of a teacher or a student (Ken Gelder, 2007). Take reading as an example. Negative subcultures could view readers as not appealing to their so-called modern, anti-establishment and

rebellious way of life.

*Religious value should also be actively instilled within the students. This would later spearhead

the correcting of moral values and the forming of good self-esteem and self-realization. To some

extent, it could also result good discipline among the students. But the school should be careful in

categorizing the students; those fit for religious programs and those who are not, because it could

lead to the birth of other subcultures.

“Tell me and I‘ll forget, show me and I may remember, involve me and I‘ll understand”

*Active involvement from students, teachers, parents and society is what we need to help the

students to be ready. We need less politics and no favoritism in organizations, top-down. We need no one who points finger and everyone who walk the talks. A stolen idea at the mouth of a brown-nose talker is as good as nothing.

Tonight it's 8 rakaat Tarawih and 1 rakaat Witir like yesterday. At least that's usual. This is not a usual post. Something just crossed my mind and I would be God-damned if I don't voice it.

To those of you who found peace here in Germany, primarily, or any where else in the world, sufficient enough to make you prefer a foreign land to your own country, let me remind you that it's plastic. Why am I bringing this up. Well, first of all, I know quite a number of Malaysians who whole-heartedly embrace the above idea, whether by way of being blind to reality or by way of denying it. Secondly, I ran pass some self-righteous Germans on the way back, complaining aloud about how I use the wrong side of the road (upstream). I don't blame them. Maybe they've just experienced something bad, maybe they were shocked. In fact, I apologized. Thirdly, when I got into my room, I saw the Malaysian flag on my table, what I usually, idly see, but this time with some sense to it. So I thought: This is the flag that would shelter you when you need shelter the most, when others of different origin deny you from any form of allegiances. This is the flag that represents constitutions that protect you unconditionally, constitutions uphold by those who affiliate to you. The flag that you could count on, even if it couldn't count on a majority of its own people. I am of course seeing it in a collective manner.

So why are we whining all the time? Why do we point fingers? Is it not due to our own incompetency that we have to look to other nations out there to point us to the right direction? Is it not our own tendency to hate our own kind or take advantage of them that lead us to associating ourselves with our enemies or blatantly speaking; the invading forces of the whites? So I am being racist. But you know what? I couldn't help it after going through several bitterly experiences of racism here. So those racists bastards think that somehow we are of something lesser. How can that be when we know more than them!? How can that be when we earn more than them!?

Sadly, collectively, that's just a dream now. Malaysians who never thought of this or like this think they don't have to answer to future generations. At least when they decide to be idle. That's why their lives are too damn simple.

I am not like them, and I would be God-damned if one day I become one of them. I need to know more and earn more than those self-righteous white supremacist bastards. God send them all to hell. Amen.

Even if they did validate the conclusion they came up with, that throughout their unethical experiment on Malaysian students, the mastery of English language as well as science and mathematics did not improve, there are still 'voids to be filled'.

It is almost like an underestimation of the importance and significance of the educational system, how they suddenly decided to revert back to Bahasa, for Science and Mathematics. Before we get to the comparison between English and Bahasa as languages, let us first look at the nature of this decision.

'Pedagogy is central in any debate about posing threats to educational freedom', (Michael Berube, 2006).

The first thing I thought of after reading that excerpt is that the need to revert to using Bahasa for Science and Mathematics is an immediate product of the incompetence of government study groups that came up with the 'English for Science and Mathematics' plan, a priori, if not a mere political stunt or an act of appealing to the anti-PPSMI folks. In any of the three cases, they would base their conclusion on reasons with regard to the competitiveness of Bahasa while failing to address the negative effects of this abrupt decision on educational freedom, generally, and how through this, the key components of the educational system (the teachers and the students) would be seriously affected.

More on the nature of the decision: strategy and tactics.

Most of the problems faced by huge organizations, governments included, are not caused by insufficiency of good ideas or ill-nature of plans. It is in fact because they have different individuals doing different things at a time, and unfortunately in this case, humans really love to have their own thoughts be heard and implemented.

So we have the plan-makers, the minorities in this chain. PPSMI is a brainchild of this group and yes, like many other strategies of theirs, there's nothing impossible about this one. The problem starts when they pass the baton to the next group, the majorities, those in charge of implementing it through tactics. And like a contagious disease, it spreads like crazy down the line.

It is natural to be repellent to new ideas especially if it requires extra efforts. But to proceed, we need to force our way through and that's just how the world works.

So it's the tactics we should blame, not the strategies. Don't cancel the plan by reverting to Bahasa. Improve the tactics and implementations, because PPSMI is an enterprise. And like many other enterprises, there's a sense of good liberalism and pluralism here and that is what we, Malaysians, need in order to secure freedom of education for generations to come. And I don't need to explain about the importance of freedom of education here, as we all could see the degree of acceptance and resistance Malaysians showed in the past several days after Dato' Seri Muhyiddin's announcement.

Why the argument of the Opposition is invalid.

We don't instill sense about the importance of Bahasa into younger generations by having them learn Science and Mathematics primarily in Bahasa only to put them in a difficult position of having to coup up with Science and Mathematics in English at higher level, later on.

If I were to say that the true appreciation of Bahasa as a National Language lies in the correct usage of it at times when we need to use it and the denunciation of pidgin languages as a preferable medium to unite Malaysians or even having thought of that idea, people would call me a language purist as if the title 'language purist' is a slur itself.

Making the students learn science and mathematics in English is not a weapon to fight this multiple fronts battle of glorifying Bahasa, how A. Samad Said potentially thought of it when he decided to join the picket in Kuala Lumpur, when the students can experience for themselves how ridiculously numerous, the changes Dewan Bahasa make to Tatabahasa from time to time, how the leaders proudly practice 'Bahasa Rojak' (sometimes, due to weak mastery of Bahasa or even English), how they proudly respond with English when asked in Bahasa during press conferences, when the youngsters can experience Chinese, Indians or Malays preferring to use English or their native languages over Bahasa.

Let us unite in assuming these obligations as responsible adults and not burden our children.

Politicizing education and the good old bandwagon.

In some articles explaining Malaysians' social behaviors which I wrote in my blog, I always included the term 'bandwagon mentality'. It's a necessary variation of 'bandwagon fallacy' or 'argumentum ad populum', that explains why people are inclined towards sharing the idea of the majority. Unlike 'bandwagon fallacy' which is relatively easy to detect, 'bandwagon mentality' is a silent but effective killer of a sound society.

The increased severity of this symptom is prevalent in Malaysian culture because most of our politicians tend to politicize social issues for their own gain or popularity. A good example is the pressure exerted by Opposition leaders onto the government in regard to PPSMI.

Some other examples are government policies that tend to narrow the choices available to the people, nearly causing descent into acceptance, although recent progress shows an astounding improvement.

Why Malaysians should not complain.

The culture of 'us' and 'them' with regard to the government and the people has become increasingly popular in Malaysia, up to a point that it is being adopted by the younger generation as a trend. If examined, one could not possibly find a clear distinction between rioters hoping for a better Malaysia and rioters who just couldn't resist watching a riot without participating.

So here are the possible cases:

(1) Because the people (majority) are incapable of consuming the notions related to greater goods, or at least let it flourish without perverting it, due to the insufficiency of education, a path they took, a reputation they assume (assuming education of good quality was initially open to all). This can be seen by the regards they have for smaller but collectively considerable issues.

Examples:
1)Public sanitation.
If Malaysians in general still couldn't comprehend the simplest thought of putting garbage in its designated can or not throw garbage while on the highway;

2)Priority.
If Malaysians still choose to prioritize picketing political issues over issues concerning humanity like poverty widespread and the growing concern of deteriorating education quality in the suburbans (these later issues are merely political tools attended to, only during campaigns);

3) Behavior.
If Malaysians still condone violence and intolerance be it on the road, among households, or to foreigners; workers or tourists;

etc., or in general, insist to continue having and practicing (>3) world mentality, how could the government expect them to make sound decisions, without any influence by the 'preying hands' that feed them with lies.

Due to the attributes of the people and the hardship government put up to contain the consequences over the years, the government has become autocratic or semi-autocratic, in which case, its the people's fault.

The second case is the simplest: After years of being in power, the government eventually became corrupted from the inside, and by natural restoration, they will be replaced.

This fairytale case doesn't require further elaborations. It is a dream come true for both conspirators and fanatics (with mala fide intentions or just plain irrationality). Although it is obviously of much lesser credential, there's a chance that it might be true.

But people tend to go for the 'shortcuts'.

This is an example of the famous causality dilemma of 'chicken or the egg'. We, Malaysians, are infatuated by the drawing of 'Tacuina Sanitatis'. We shall take the 'contents' for granted until we come to realize that this dilemma is altogether, futile!

Drop the ball, start to work our visions.

The sweat from substantial works and progress towards development is the true bread for future generation.

So, what happened in Cini? Well, nothing new, actually. Just another molestation case and a racial dispute. I wouldn't be surprised if I get such feedback from the parliament goons. In fact, most of us wont.

So why did it occur? I'll break it down simple to you politicians, if you're reading this: because you think it doesn't directly affect you or your wife or your sons or your daughters. So to hell with it, right? No drastic actions to curb it, no serious face while addressing this issue in front of the press. I guess it would be too much to ask for a nationwide campaign against misconducts at PLKN.

Honestly, you don't deserve your titles or your seats or your monthly payslips because you can't even conceive things, so simple, such the need to think of other people's children as your own. Of course you can use your influence to not have your children attend PLKN, but hey, would you like your daughters to be molested or your sons to experience confusing moments of racial disputes? I swear to God, I couldn't imagine.

I would like to take this chance to address other issues, 'the next of kin', I would say, to the one above. It's about putting someone outside of a field, in charge of that field. Why have politicians or Royalty be presidents of sport associations (you know very well what I mean) when they cant even play these sports...or run. It must be because of the pay, huh? Think about the matters at hand: why, out of all talented, young, enthusiastic Malaysians, these people...these narcissists, to represent us? Took some time this morning to read FOX news. Four were arrested for plot to bomb a synagogue in Bronx, New York using C-4 explosive and to shoot down a military plane using Stinger.

Another score for Islamophobia.

Islamophobia is very much alive because:

Islam is seen as a monolithic bloc, static and unresponsive to change.

1.It is seen as separate and "other." It does not have values in common with other cultures, is not affected by them and does not influence them.

2.It is seen as inferior to the West. It is seen as barbaric, irrational, primitive, and sexist.

3.It is seen as violent, aggressive, threatening, supportive of terrorism, and engaged in a clash of civilizations.

4.It is seen as a political ideology, used for political or military advantage.

5.Criticisms made of "the West" by Muslims are rejected out of hand.

6.Hostility towards Islam is used to justify discriminatory practices towards Muslims and exclusion of Muslims from mainstream society.

7.Anti-Muslim hostility is seen as natural and normal.

Now I don't see this as to revolve around the circle of Islamic faith. It is eminently a result of the economic downturn, wouldn't you agree? Psychologists across the US continue to report the increasing number of Americans incapable of sustaining their own lives, who would resort to drastic and insane measure such committing suicide.

This is a global pandemic, and amidst, misconceptions disperse easily within the community.

The toughest challenge that a government would face is to cater for the people, the poor most importantly and nonetheless; the rich.

We should expect more violence coming our way with the increasing lay-offs and sky-rocketing unemployment rate.

This is the time to practice 'collective' form of economy, or what some would call; the 'communist' form of economy. The motivation of production should shift from profit to the welfare of the society, something the private sector couldn't offer. Instead of organizing crash-courses to provide people with extra skills, the government should open up factories to mass produce.

Produce more necessities and less luxuries (which would mostly be in the form of services). We have to catch our breath to compete with overpopulated countries such India and China that ace at mass production and cheap labor for they had been dealing with it since long. We should focus less on recollecting the local political shambles.

What happened to Malaysia? I just watched the most unbelievable video on youtube: a group of Malaysian Indians emotionally protesting for the LTTE in Sri Lanka.

I'm pretty sure the last time I read an article concerning human rights in Sri Lanka, it is said that “BOTH the Government of Sri Lanka and the separatist Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) are accused of violating human rights”.

So now Malaysia should support a militant group just because you people are minorities? And any police officer who refuses to support your cause, has miraculously, somehow, let the people of Sri Lanka down and has let the brutally murdered children of Sri Lanka die in vain? Can you talk straight? Oh, and grow up, please.

I tell you what, the last time this 'Semenanjung' saw an Indian movement supporting Indians overseas was during the Japanese occupation. But that's understandable because Gandhi was there and he's one of my all time favorite.

Remember Ambon? Well of course you don't. You just think about your cause. Just for the sake of comparison, here. We never took it to Putrajaya did we? What makes you think you can? And just recently: Palestine. We were enraged. Did we shove Shimon Peres's coffin up the FRU's arse? I'll make this brief. Disregard what people would label me as, I strongly feel that the children of Indra Gandhi should be brought up away from the influence of the religion of both the father and the mother.

In this intricate and 'twisted' case we learned how the mother used this reason:

“When the youngest child, who is still being breast-fed by the mother, is taken away from her, it is definitely traumatic for the mother” ,

and sell it to the medias, to further her cause of making all her children, Hindus. This is downright, vile and preposterous.

I also think that bringing up the issue of violence (of the husband) in the court of law is mala fide, out of context and is deliberately meant to 'appeal to the mass', save an evidence.

The attorneys are also religiously motivated and by that I mean; blinded.

Here, the scientific concept of Tabula Rasa comes into term with Islam. According to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the young minds are 'clean' (fitrah) and their parents (abawaiyh) shall make them Jews or Christians or Majusis.

Malay language for science and mathematics.

First of all, I'd like to make it clear that the most disgustingly ridiculous of all those who speak both Malay and English are those who 'interweave' these two languages with the intention of fooling people from out of town into respecting them. Every time I see some goons on national television doing this, I feel like giving him / her a good punch or two (for the later, a slap would do). Don't hate me for this, it's an abomination.

If you want to speak in English make sure it's completely English. Otherwise, forget about it.

Do you know that in 2004, DBP (Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka) and MABBIM (Majlis Bahasa Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia ) actually suggested that Malay Language be made the 'leading' language of ASEAN since more than half of the total inhabitants of ASEAN countries use it? To those of you who do not know this, the incompetence in science and mathematics you have in common is a result of your own ignorance and indolence. Do not put the blame on learning science and mathematics in Malay.

To me, there are two kinds of people who support direly, learning science and mathematics in English. The first: those who received their early educations in English (most likely to be of Malay origin), learned how to 'drink tea' and live like the English, regard themselves as 'above average' and want their sons and daughters to tread the same path.

The second: those who rarely use Malay in their day to day life, consciously or unconsciously regard Malay as a lesser language, use English instead and think that learning science and mathematics in English could be an advantage to their sons and daughters, over the sons and daughters of those to whom English is secondary.

In between are those who follow blindly. These people deserve no group of their own, wouldn't you agree?

Ah. The first one is always the worst or the best. Malays who do not see the importance of preserving their own heritage. Malays who could not answer when someone ask them about the possibility of making their native language as competitive as English, just like what is being done in Europe and other parts of the world. What they could do, however, is making sure that their pathetic, foul-smelling hubbub of supporting English for science and mathematics is discernible. What did they make of 30 people demonstrating that Malay language be treated like it's a national language?

The second consist mainly of ungrateful brutes. It's a social contract and everyone knows it. For the sake of integration, all Malaysians have to acknowledge Malay as the leading language by way of using it and promoting it. Let's say cherish it. And let's not forget that we had several 'integration issues' from the day we attained our independence. You think this concept is outdated? Well, I've heard about China making some aggressive moves in promoting English to their people, but know this; this country was founded upon a principle so different from that. So stop putting China as an example. It makes me want to puke. And I don't know if you ever heard of countries like Germany (Leitkultur) having their own leading culture to ensure integration among their people, countries with lots of foreigners and of richer diversities. This value consensus drew a line they dare not cross until this day, when they have their Mercedes, Porsche, Volkswagen and so forth and are able to make you proud of driving it. Hey, even the Chinese from the mainland.

So until you can prove the Germans wrong, and of course, you, right, I would lift those banners and walk those streets, proud of the 30 comrades who do not forget their history easily.

The situation in Perak is not unique. From the trove of the world's historical heritage you should gain a lot.

The primacy of personal politics has long contributed to the ugliest chapters of world history, long before we even come to know constitutional monarchy. Amidst of the crisis in 1914 in Russia, the Tsar's unequivocal and unconditional support for the Serbs indirectly resulted a revolution which was not so kind to his throne. After the wars from multiple fronts he waged, the Duma came to absolute power and he, to his knees. Let us not forget the fact that the Tsar called for wars despite the assessments of his military strength - conducted by his generals - which were not so supportive.

The lesson here is that a king is still a human. If to question is natural to humans then to be questioned is also natural to humans. Let not this one slip through, because nature restores power to those worthy of it by thunder: war strategies to the generals and democracy to the people.

Since the downfall of Islamic Ottoman Empire in 1922 or earlier; from the adaptation of western cultures forth, western hegemony brought new definition of almost everything including human needs. The fundamental human needs as outlined by Maslow and Max Neef (1943) are;

Nowadays, women start to talk about emancipation, changing of basic Islamic ethics of hijab and equality without even questioning the relevance of their actions and what the outcomes might be.

The evolution of fashion was most aggressive after World War 2. Makeups which were associated to prostitution back then was accepted into society, overnight, thanks to the overwhelming development of media and entertainment. Designers mushroomed and a new industry was created. Despite economic imbalances, the fashion industry continued to prosper and up till this day.

Every new waves of fashion is always interconnected to Hollywood. Hollywood was also responsible of tuning up the minds of commonnies to seeing ‘Eros’ and ‘Thanatos’ (the two urges, by Sigmund Freud) animalistically. Since then, women are seen as an ‘art piece’ for everyone. Excessive exposure of women body is not seen as immoral anymore. Instead, it is ‘daring’. Chastity paradoxically became a shame instead of a pride.

Henceforth, women lost their pride. Sex industries sprout and continue to expand. No one can deny the massive degradation this development brought to women. Women; mothers of future generations, have been robbed of their rights and they like it. They express this God-forbidden joy by labeling Islamic fundamentalist groups as closed-minded, orthodox extremists.

Let us pause and ponder. When did the transition of dressing culture actually took place? We remember watching classic movies with actresses putting on ‘reasonable’ clothing. What happened to skirts? Are we in deprivation of fabrics which are NOT translucent? Truly, this deprivation will result in something more than just moral corruption.

Some say that it is unjust for men to only ‘talk’ in such way about women.
Unjust it is, if they are seeing this problem from who’s-to-blame point of view. But examining this problem holistically, we would find out that there are reasons to protect what’s precious, and the same applies to women. It is the protective nature of the religion Islam and the love of God that some guidelines are made compulsory to Muslimahs and Muslims.

Mankind’s ‘escalation’ is evident. But there is also no say in this universal religion that pose restriction to women from developing. It is only that the ‘channel’ should be right (not like the westerners).

We should recall the concept of super ego, ego and ID, suggested by Sigmund Freud. It is with the motivation of ID that we are trying to CREATE reasons to fulfill our anxious ‘urges’ and adoration of ‘sublimes’ in the conscious of ego. Could it be that the only truly applicable super ego governing the behavior of mankind (that it not be that of animal) is the qualities of the one religion which does not tolerate the slightest moral skepticism?

Male domination, sexism, rape cases, depreciation of women and degeneration of moral values are just some out of many aftermaths of western hegemony. It is by denying the cause of all this to be the malpractices of westernization, that worsens the case. It is by providing other ‘logical’ reasons to cover up for what westernization does (such commercialization of women) that the problem remains uncurbed. It is by replacing God’s words with man-made laws that the problem even exists.

If this statement is taken to be true and believed by majority, it would be a knowledge. But that is truly impossible considering the epistemological flaw in philosophy. Philosophy indirectly suggest that by being the hybrid of truth and belief, knowledge is superior to both. But even knowledge by way of scientific methods, that is, has its degree of truthfulness. How can humans be sure that a knowledge is true when they are prone of making mistakes through weaknesses, the same reason why hypothesis was invented in science and hence; the challenging of it. How can materialists be sure that a knowledge is fit for belief without ‘leaning’ it on a certain guidelines, known since long as had descended from a divine source. Out of many reasons why a specialist in a certain field of study has to complete the circle of the particular field and actively contributes to this field later on is to avoid coining new terms explaining same phenomena all over again. Our incapability as humans to holistically examine a phenomenon after connecting its counterparts together-somewhat like a puzzle-and our laggard development in collecting the missing pieces cause our scientific explanations to be devastatingly temporary and hence our belief -if based on science- be rendered plastic.

That is why the concept of tabula rasa is wrong and the debate of nurture against nature is petty; because almost a must that human beings and the entire universe which exist serving purposes be equipped with a pre-program marking the axis of significance of life. It is therefore; right to only say that scientific knowledge is nothing more than a tool to determine which spiritual belief suits the very nature of mankind best and not to substitute belief itself for too feeble is science to displace mighty belief sustaining the existence of proper moral values, ethics and ethos. This is exactly what was revealed by the virtue of God’s Messengers.

This higher logic of the truth of spiritual entity and the belief it deserves makes our logic of the lower incapable of challenging it. The motivation and determination of people refusing to give up faith will always succeed revealing foolishness of materialists like how the ‘Big Bang’ erased the theory of static universe from existence.

DYM Raja Nazrin is pushing for Monarchs' immunity, PAS shall name their first success in Shah Alam as to be able to limit liquor business, Anwar says that it will not get worse, DAP says that PAS needs some arrogance management and Wanita UMNO is on a tough ride. Isn't it grand, because never in this short life history of mine, which I share with the rest of other young Malaysians which so happen to be the only rest after the time of DYM Raja Nazrin, Anwar and Rafidah Aziz, did Malaysians get so critical about Malaysia. This has got one way to go and one way only.

If this is going down, why bother, because these numero unos got their own God-forsaken agendas at best (except Tun because he's doing charity, if you think about it). We might as well be writing novels than wasting keystrokes. Get in, get out. Get it? At least for me, that's not an option, because I'm not thinking about spending my time here any longer than until my contracts expire. I don't know about you.

But you can be God-damned sure that it's the option taken by those wasted youngsters doing illegal racing and drugs and they are many. You can be God-damned sure that those culprits who would love to see the Malaysia which got this far, rot, (Ivy Josiah etc.) will work their guts out just so that it be. The later is why I and many other concerned individuals (not saying that I'm any better than you) gave up on explaining about history and how history repeats itself, to the mass majority.

Today, I received an e-mail invitation to join UMNO Club Germany and I am more than pleased to do so. I'm very sure that it was sent to all of us. But thinking about what's happening in Malaysia gives me the constant unpleasant feeling, the kind of feeling you get having bitter pill bits stuck in between your teeth. For the love of God, tomorrow's generation and generations to come are not 'cleaners'!

If this is heading upwards, and I don't see how, the tensions which are now growing, would develop battle-hardened groups of 'malignant' thugs, metastasising their corrupted ideologies and at the end of the day, there will be nothing left to loot. That time, the culprits call age of freedom, that time we call hell on earth. You want to know it, look around.

At this moment, more than anything, we need the world to know us like how they've come to know our other Asian neighbours, take Singapore for example.

Because when we're done quarrelling, what's left of the world's wealth for us worth nothing more than any other leftovers. Then, we can scavenge.

1) ‘The arrest of a tuition teacher at Esplanade of Georgetown’. The headline reads somewhat like that. What a good skimmer wouldn’t know is the fact that she is the organizer. And how would her students / other teachers, nationwide, think had she not been arrested?

2) Abu Zahar’s remark about Malaysian-Bar-for-hire playing politician. Islam and the special rights of Malay are somehow entangled together in the Constitution. You want to know it, your forefathers signed it.

How about "Would that WE had been able to endure prosperity with greater self-control and adversity with more fortitude!", for a change?

We’ve heard Majlis Fatwa Kebangsaan’s Ruling several days ago. We’ve even heard the voices of non-Muslim Malaysians (let us bare this in mind), condemning the Fatwa rather enthusiastically, although many Muslim Malaysians still couldn’t figure out why in God’s name did it happen so.

Who are ‘we’? That’s the fundamental question. Are ‘we’ Malaysians as in ‘Malaysians’ Malaysia’ who took the oath of ‘Rukun Negara’, crossed our heart and hope to die if we happen to defy ‘Kedaulatan Undang-undang’ and those other principles, who respect religious freedom and value good deeds? Are we members of The New Coalition who fight for justice, who speak out against corruptions even if it means ISA and preach a better Malaysia by method of ridding corruptions and those corrupted?

At this very moment, it is convincing that we are none of those stated above. Why now, would the Chinese and Indians (some) work hand in hand to condemn Majlis Fatwa’s ruling, amidst of all the political and financial crises in Malaysia, and why this issue? Christians would agree to the notion that men should remain as men and women should remain as women. That’s two against one, Westernization!

Indeed, this newborn axis was meant to severe the pain of the already ailing Malaysia. The people of this axis are neither Malaysians nor members of The New Coalition because then, they would know about article 153 of the Constitution better than anyone. And the leaders of The New Coalition, Muslims especially; the test of time would determine whether you are worthy of protecting your own religion and standing up for it through hard times, or should I say; at times such when people start calling your Fatwa, stupid. Hide behind your ignorance and you shall suffer consequences.

"Brave, new world"

It is a popular belief that Malaysia is undertaking the challenges of Vision 2020. With every hardship we encounter towards that, popular or not, we learn something new. What exactly will we learn from having inadequate time to prepare ourselves for the inevitable, forthcoming globalization?

The first wave of globalization since the ‘Age of Enlightenment’ was about imperialism, conquest, gold, gospel and glory. They wondered what their country can do for the world and what the world can do for their country.

At the end of this era, Malaysia was born.

The second wave of globalization was about multinational industries, group participations beyond imaginary borders of countries. They wondered what their company can do for the world and what the world can give back in return.

I believe the third wave of globalization has just begun; the harshest of its kind that will have everyone questioning themselves; ‘what can I do for the world and what can the world do for me?’. ‘Where do I fit in?’.

In order to survive such intolerant wave of change we need to study the cause of all impairments we see now, within the society, and rectify them. To draw our next course we need to be able to foresee the dangers which lie ahead. The momentous question of the third wave is too personal. Yet, we cannot make it any simpler nor avoid it.

Education, unlike other fundamental ideas of human development, requires creativity. What an educator may draw on those Tabula Rasas is limitless. The implementations will determine whether future Malaysians will join the successful league or not. So it goes; the right educators for this nation are educators with the right methods.

Optimism is the logic of fools.

Frankly, the education quality of this country is declining and everyone can see that. Moral issues among students pile up from day to day. With more university graduates, the government is being burdened by greater figures of unemployment rate. With more qualified and educated personnel, we face even greater professionalism crisis. With more progressive efforts made by the government to curb these problems, they face hindrance of unpopular support. While this beloved country drains its oil depository, the greater emphasis of developing good human capital lacks implementation. Where and when did these all begin? Where and when will we end?

Will making the students memorize the definitions of all the philosophical –isms and tick the right answers on answer sheets suffice for the rectification?

Remember, stability is a dead fish flowing down the river. The only stability we should embrace is a stable change.

E.g.; turning blind eyes to vulgar signs and statements made by government parliament members such Bung Mokhtar of Kinabatangan and Hamidah Osman of Sungai Rapat and refusing to use means necessary to persuade the government to take disciplinary actions / such, against these figures.

+++5 These media mock the adversarial system of point/counterpoint by organizing biased poles, forums and debates.

E.g.; although the Shabery-Anwar debate was not directly organized by RTM, the tight control exercised by some factions within the government onto popular media can be clearly seen through;

1> the person/body organizing the debate failed to choose people who really represent the breadth of opinion (PM or TPM);

2> the person/body organizing the debate failed to ask non-prejudicial questions and to edit or arbitrate their comments fairly;

3> the person/body organizing the debate applauded the attacking of Anwar’s character done by Shabery (Argumentum ad Hominem) while obviously, the debate is about oil price.

***Citizens must avoid self-censorship by reading divergent sources and maintaining a critical perspective on the media in order to make informed choices and participate effectively in the public policy process.***

When The Pretzel Crumbles from Within?

"Where's mine?"

Politics is truly about giving, not giving, taking and not taking. Out of all four, giving and taking strike the color of the ruling party best. Why is that so?

Because taking and giving are substantial. Because if something is not being taken or not being given like tax exclusion etc., literally; no change has been made. So it goes; a desperate party will take and give more frequently to appeal to the mass. This is an evil fallacy.

The fact that difference in political views revolves around different ways of seeing things only further complicates this matter.

Let’s list out what the government took, recently:

1----- Leaders of HINDRAF.

Let’s be realistic. These are the main claims of HINDRAF:

1- Commonwealth ethnic Indian peace loving subjects in Malaysia persecuted by government, backed by Islamic extremist violent armed terrorist who launched a pre dawn violent armed attack and destroyed the Kg Jawa Mariaman Hindu temple at 4.00 am this morning (15.11.2007).

2- Appeal for U.K to move emergency U.N resolution condemning ethnic cleansing in Malaysia.

3- Appeal to refer Malaysia to the world court and international criminal court for crimes against its own ethnic minority Indians.

This is an intolerable, high treason. Worst to worst, Malaysia would come next after Syria or Iran, especially during this time when America is showing great interest in ‘safeguarding’ the Strait of Malacca.

And they are calling it a peaceful rally. Hell, I’d buy the rumors that HINDRAFs are gathering weapons to start a revolt, because they think they are being ethnically cleansed. What would you do with such realization?

So, the imprisonment of HINDRAF leaders is more or less a ‘giving’ to the peace loving people, but the maltreatment they receive behind bars is vice versa. All in all, this is a taking because it all escalated from the government turning its back on ethnic Indians, as a whole.

2----- Oil subsidy.

This is neck-breaking to the poor and middle-classites. Price of commodities sky-rocketed and crime rate increased. This taking is most vital of all for through it, the people are being intimidated for not being heard by the government, with some driven into famine.

3----- Jurisdictional rights.

Sure slandering is wrong and unethical, but when a claim has been made in the court of law alleging ‘men of great power’ to have been involved in ‘a murder’, a just investigation should be carried out.
The rule of law, if you will; the popular shout these days from both the government and the opposition. Where is the rule of law in;

1- Having those under investigation still running government departments (AG and CP).

2- Not being able to mention ‘some names’ in the court of law or in a police report.

3- Being induced and intimidated after making a Statutory Declaration.
And best of all, there is no justification whatsoever for all these actions and inactions.

And what the government gave:

1----- 45% increase of scholarship to the non-Bumiputeras through JPA.

With all due respect, I would describe the action of increasing the figure from 5% to 45% as a desperate, unintelligent, superfluous, selfish and far-fetched political attempt to gain more votes, and I’m not blaming the government as a whole. There are figures who are clearly dissatisfied by this decision.

Look at the rehabs, the streets, the villages etc.. Which race forms the majority of addicts, mat rempits, minah rempits and the poor? If the government is to cater for the rich and poor then I’d say; stop depriving the Malays who are really in need, by putting them through ‘premature meritocracy’. Never mind the rich Malays.

Why do we see ourselves as being racist when we talk about Malay agendas? The Indians and Chinese talk about their agendas all the time.

Remember that the greatest identity is the national identity; the identity which Malays gave willingly to the non-Malays as an indication of acceptance, for the Malays and the non-Malays worked hand in hand to bring Malaysia to its present state.

It’s a fair quid pro quo, and it is about time that all of us submit to the greater consensus; the national consensus. If fighting for racial benefits would discourage the ‘Malaysians’ Malaysia’ ideal, so be it: let us all be regarded as one, but until a Malaysian ‘Leitkultur’ is being established and practiced, in which all Malaysians would have to agree to certain values and points, the ideal is out of reach.

2----- 372 SJKT join the ‘fully-funded band’.

In the spirit of Islam Hadhari or Hadharah Islamiah or whatever it is, I see this as an unjust treatment. How about the ‘Sekolah Agama Rakyat’ or the SAR issue? Is it already out of mind? Truly, ‘Melayu mudah lupa’.

I am proud of the fact that I studied at a SAR.

As I recall, the government gave the SARs a binomial choice: to drop the Al-Azhar syllabi or to be financially independent.

Why did the government initially, not fund SJKTs and SJKCs? Because they wouldn’t accept / would partially accept; the syllabi set by the Ministry of Education and to this day, they remain so.

In a way, the SARs, SJKTs and SJKCs share something in common. But you see, the treatment is different.

That’s 2 taken from the Malays, 2 given to the non-Malays and 3 taken from Malaysians. This imbalance, somehow, reminds me of the ‘Koklkhozy’ collective farming program.

Amidst of this worsening political turmoil in Malaysia, I pledge my full support for reform to the better, freedom for the commoners and harsh judgment for the perpetrators.

Too much of power will eventually corrupt, too much of responsibility will eventually destruct. That is why those with great power are also liable to the law and only those reliable are given great responsibilities. The components of this balanced system complement each other and that is why it should be independent.

When an individual or a group of people with malafede political motivation/s attempt/s to transgress these limitations, we should not submit for there is too much to lose in imbalance, be it now or in the future.

Those who fathom this proposition are willing to go to great extent to restore the balance; the extent reached by Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy and other great leaders of the past.

When leaders conspire, judiciary corrupts, atrocious libel being widespread, police force being a part of executive, there can only be one out of two reformative outcomes: having a revolution undertaken by the mass or having the corrupted at the international community’s point-blank.

I ask not for an allegiance to individual/s for the hearts of men are easily corrupted, only for fidelity and commitment to justice and future Malaysia.

Olympic: One Million Ringgit for One Gold Medal.

Before implementing the ‘one million ringgit for one gold medal’ plan in this coming Olympic, the government should really have another look at the premises of those dissatisfied.

As David Miller put it in his book ‘Political Philosophy’; the obedience of the people in a democratic nation is what the government get in return for their promise of equal distribution of state benefits to the people, in a collectivistic manner.

The logic behind this argument is that the whole idea of governing is grouping individuals who want to govern and be governed under one flag, one system of independent foreign policies and with all the rights to name enemies and allies, the best of interests and the worse of interests, or in other words; a government by the people, for the people. Other than this, we name oppression or contra- rule of law.
Later on, David Miller provides an example of how this state benefits are to be fair and square:

“Looks can be deceptive, however. There are at least two difficulties
that have to be overcome if the fair play argument is going to justify
political obligation. The first is that we have to show that the
benefits the state provides really are benefits for everyone. What if
the laws protect property, but only some people are property
owners, for example? Or what if taxes are being used to fund art
galleries and many people care nothing for art? The argument can
work, however, so long as the whole package of benefits provided by
the state makes everyone better off, and so long as the benefits are
shared reasonably fairly among all the citizens whose compliance
makes the system of authority possible.”

1-The state’s benefit of 1 million ringgit for a gold medal is an offer only to the athletes.

2-This ‘package’ would not make everyone better off. It would likely cause an imbalance in social costs-benefits distribution, taking the recent oil price hike and the sky-rocketing inflation rate (5%) into consideration.

3-The athletes are one very small part of compliance to authority. These are the other major half in action:

There are two documentary films which I would endorse youngsters to see, provided they are 18 and above (for the later). Both were released in the year 2007 and so they are contemporary;

The first is ‘Extraordinary Rendition’ starring Omar Berdouni and the second is ‘SiCKO’ by Michael Moore.

I agree that politics is incomplete without history. As we, humans, develop the richness of civilizations worth centuries of toil and hard work, we deprive ourselves of examples of achievements and failures of the past that we tend to believe in something so easy to perceive as Pasca-Modernism: a mere theory that casts the significance of philosophy, substantial utopian visions and ideal concepts, away. But forget not that improvements never end. Forget not the backbone of the people’s voluntary agreement to their nation; the ideal of being protected by law, enjoying safety and the state’s benefits. John Locke proposed this in his ‘Second Treatise of Government’ (1689).

But increasing offer to maintained demand would mean an elevation in quality. Maybe someday when we finally learned the importance of Identity or ‘Eigenschaft’, we would accept ourselves the way we are. These uncertainties of buts and maybes made us entrust our moral and physical developments to the hands of socialists, communists and markets, hence, the wars of ideology and destruction.

What is the one thing that contains ‘Eigenschaft’, history and facts and yet entertains the uncertainties and ideals? The answer is freedom of choice, freedom of speech and also freedom of fear that would constrain people from both the formers. Instead of having the fear being imposed by the government onto the people through maltreatments and practices of ‘Draconian Laws’, we need the government to feel this fear as a servant, for their own good. The fear of not entertaining a demand, the fear of taking illegal actions against protesters and the fear of perceiving wrongly or in short; the fear of wrong actions, inactions and perceptions. This is the one place marked by a solid monument; a free piece of land by the people, for the people and for the law: our own version of Speakers’ Corner, to distinguish right from wrong, critics from curses.

Before we move on to the details about the two films above, let us look at what happened due to oil price hike in the past few days:

Why is this oil price hike so significant to Malaysians? Why does it excite so many people upon taking its toll; thieves and good Samaritans alike? Remember ‘Vox Populi, Vox Dei’.

The fact is:

According to the ‘Receipts and Expenditures’ clause of the United States Constitution -Article I, Section 9, clause 7-, the government is required to publish a regular Statement and Account of the Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money. This resulted to the introduction of ‘black budget’.

“It was hard for me to acknowledge that in the end, we truly are all in the same boat, and that, no matter what our differences, we sink or swim together. That’s how it seems to be everywhere else. They take care of each other no matter what their disagreements. You know, when we see a good idea from another country, we grab it. If they build a better car, we drive it. If they make a better wine, we drink it. So if they come up with a better way to treat the sick, to teach their kids, to take care of their babies, to simply be good to each other, then what’s our problem? Why can’t we do that? They live in the world of ‘we’, not ‘me’. We’ll never fix anything until we get that one, basic thing right: empowerful forces hope that we never do, and that, we remain the only western country in the world without free universal health care. You know, if we ever did remove the choke-hold of medical bills, college loans, day-care and everything else that makes us afraid to step out of line, well, watch out. Because it will be a new day in America.” This was said by Michael Moore in the film SiCKO to compare American health care with that of the European. I took the freedom of quoting it to myself because I can’t find one in the net.

Apart from the ‘wine part’, I take the entire quote to be better than just sensible and universal enough to be put into life practice by the Muslims and the non-Muslims of Malaysia.

The fact is:

“Free college education, free medical care, government-issued nannies, I began to wonder; how do they pay for all this? And then I realized; they’re drowning in taxes.” This was said by Michael Moore to describe how heavenly it is in France.

Maybe Malaysia IS in a different context. Maybe we are in a developing, third-world country with limited resources. All the more reason for the government to manage these resources carefully. We can start by making regular accounts of ‘people’s companies’ such PETRONAS, publically available, or publically announcing our own ‘black budget’.

Does this happen in Malaysia? We need to ask ourselves that.

Today, Roslan Aziz lauded his moronic side of reasoning by firing pemuda PAS with baseless critics. Like many other Malay artists who put on skimpy clothing, behave like they never knew Islam and yet give ‘Salam’ and say ‘Alhamdulillah’ before, during or after their stage performance, Roslan Aziz is just another joker perpetuating hedonism, another money craver who babbles. Here are some questions for you:

1-- Why should we listen to your nonsensicalities about politics when you didn’t even vote? Where is your conscience in that?

2-- Why should we listen to you talking about Islam when you don’t have the slightest idea about what you are talking? I must say that the misguiding remarks you made about religious people to the press are quite smooth. But using the ‘sanad’ as an example is cheap. You are just desperately trying to monger to the lot that you know something about Islam.

3-- Why shouldn’t politics be a part of Islam? This is the preliminary question and you don’t have any legitimate idea about it? Shame on you, calling yourself a Muslim. Be it Islam Hadhari or Hadharah Islamiah, from the government or the opposition, the fundamental task is to promote Islam as the way of life. But you were right all along. For people like you who are politically irresponsible, politics might just not be a part of life.

4-- ‘Put the blame on stupid artists who are dropouts’ and dictum on you, yourself. It is amazing how you managed to come up with the ‘mempertahankan nilai budaya’ basis when the many paradoxical premises in your remarks suggest that you might not be able to do so. Why did you say that you are not trying to oppose the qualities of Islam when obviously you are doing so? Just look at how Mas Idayu and Ella dress up. Never mind Malay music. Malays are defined mostly by their Islamic qualities since long, but not for you. You belong to the special case; of people who handpick the qualities of Islam which suit their desires, and dump the others.

5-- How did you connect music and development again? It is a universal truth that hedonism is counter-productive. Forget about the manifesto. That’s a long way of logics from you. Take your argumentum ad populum (‘Tidak ada konsert, di Kelantan ada juga anak luar nikah’) as an example. Not only that the two premises do not connect, you are saying that crowding up in front of a stage, waving hands while forgetting about the five prayers, having private parts of men and women alike, not private anymore and listening to toilet and even illicit jokes (of ‘Senario’) would NOT result in children imitating the jokes, youngsters fancy going to auditions and putting on trendy clothes than studying, ‘future mothers’ involving in pre-marital sex and others. How flawed is that? Savvy this new teaching of yours. Maybe you can come up with ‘ajaran Roslan Aziz’ or ‘ajaran Amin Iskandar’. I don’t know about the non-Muslims. But that is always the case for Muslims. Prove me wrong. ‘Mat rempit’, ‘bohjan’, ‘sumbang mahram’, ‘seks luar nikah’ (All these come in pair).

To me, you are just another political tool. It is true what John Locke proposed. Mental development is in levels. The basic level: people question about the authority of a government to collect taxes from them, to conscript them into services, etc. The higher level: people question the limit of the authority and the things which they have to forgo in exchange for basic needs such safety and prosperity. Your ‘two cents’ couldn't even pass the eligibility level (of becoming an idea).

Guth’s elementary particle theory which relates itself to the truth of the existence of a beginning of the universe from nothingness or in other words; the creation of the universe, shattered the dreams of materialist scientists. This finding is in phase with that of Hawking’s and other great scientists of the past who were not in the state of denial nor in the state of being forcefully irresponsive.

Later on, we learnt that the God-given proofs are not sufficient for the perplexed reasoning of the materialists. With Tryon, Guth concluded that our existence on this life-supporting planet earth might just be a coincidence if examined in a larger scale because there exist no studies whatsoever to track the failures of life existence at other unsuitable planets in other galaxies of other universes.

The theory of Big Bang or ‘Urknall’ is itself; perfect. The creation of a vast universe from nothingness and its expansion at a short interval of time (what in German is described as ‘unvorstellbar’) and at a proportionate speed and the arrangements of protons, neutrons, electrons and photons which formed entities which matter and even correlate with each other, backed strongly by the background radiation or ‘Hintergrundgeraeusch’, is too complex and too perfect to be a coincidence.

The problem with examining something humongous as it is at a time is that you don’t really examine it. You might see a big picture but you don’t understand it. To examine it requires you to study the parts first and later put it together. Otherwise, mankind, collectively speaking, might end up doing the same mistake as Wilson and Penzias of the Bell Laboratory. Looking at the scientific universe and creations the way you look at Mona Lisa is a total fallacy.

Creationists are to me, able to see and conceive, the later which materialists lack. Basing their premises of reasoning on the theory of evolution would make them look more ridiculous for they formerly accepted the fact that arranging the constituents of a biological cell, say, to form one, would not give it the special ability of knowing that it is there or the sense of ‘Dasein’. When will Malaysia have its very own à la English Reform group? It is obvious; the great need there is, to restructure our civil services and thus, give fresh, new meanings to them. Too much of our GDP is being spent on paying civil servants. It should be about quality and not quantity. This itsy-bitsy cancer pushed the government to forgo numerous needs of the majority and continues to do so with the help of ‘warm and humid’ decisions made by the government and just recently; the encouragement of civil servants to participate in 2nd works.

The Reform group is a London, United Kingdom based free-market think tank whose mission is to set out a better way to deliver public services and economic prosperity via private sector involvement and market de-regulation. This independent and non-partisan group believes that, by reforming the public sector and extending choice, high quality services can be made available for everyone. This group is famous for its statistics-populated reports.

How do we, Malaysians, envision the healthcare, education, transport system, streets and economy of future Malaysia? Is it high-standard, modern, efficient, safe, free, dynamic and competitive or vice versa? The actions that the government is favoring right now are directing us towards the worst. Is it or is it not a fallacy to perceive that more teachers will result in an elevation of education quality? Figures don’t lie but sometimes they are deceitful.

Take the State of Kedah for example. The education standard there is decaying and being reduced to not just intellectual but also moral abyss, not due to scarcity in amount of whole-hearted teachers but due to mismanagements; almost nepotistic, corruptions and of course; indolent and passive teachers, and the only mechanism which the government came up with to combat this malignant, there-to-stay plague is the various PTK tests which are not only unreliable but also discouraging in the sense that it oust experienced teachers who lack English conversational skills (additional values).

Why can’t we be like Ireland or our close neighbor; Australia. That vast a country/continent managed to allocate only about 35% of their GDP to sustain their world-renown civil services. Think about what good the other 65% of our GDP would do us, a GDP backboned by oil industry.

Stop encouraging civil servants to undertake 2nd, ‘side’ jobs, reduce the amount of civil servants gradually, lower taxes, invest the other 65% (or close to that) of our GDP in our very own RND and plant-projects of renewable energies and seize from insensibly ignoring the fact that we are running out of crude oil. After all, having civil servants selling ‘Kuih Raya’ and ‘Kain’ will never benefit the lot, some figures in CUEPACS, maybe. The Government cannot control the ‘drive’ in free trades.

‘The King Never Smiles: A Biography of Thailand's Bhumibol Adulyadej’ is the title of the book by Paul M. Handley which out of many, describes to readers the survival stories of Thailand monarchs.

The book starts with a quote from Prince Chakrabongs’s letter in which he expressed to Rama VI his fear of the progressive pact. He noted that the content the conservative pact spares the monarchy with their Saturnalia of excess faith, is but temporary for at the end, democracy shall prevail.

The sustainability of Thailand monarchs owes mostly to the ‘flexibility’ which the band of kings (from Chulalongkorn to Bhumibol) bestowed upon the Ptolemaic model of politics which revolved only around Buddha-like kings.

It is amazing how these great kings worked their way to protecting the monarchy, avoid western interventions and ease the tension that was building up within the empire. Prince Prajadhipok pursued his education in medical study and Militarism in the US, the UK and in Germany. To be the king of all Thailand is the last thing he wanted because he was determined to serve as a doctor at a public hospital and the best for his son, was to his perspective, anywhere outside the clear-white, four walls of the palace.

About fifty years before that, the Mexicans were already bracing themselves for a reform known as ‘La Reforma’. The subjects of dissatisfaction: the absence of a nation state system which appreciates political, geopolitical, culture and ethnical values and the non-Liberal system.

The new constitution they drafted during ‘The Plan of Ayutla’ paved its way to be the Constitution of 1857.

This time around, Malaysia might just be entering its ‘Age of Enlightment’ or ‘Zeitalter der Aufklaerung’. When the people collectively notice a malignant cancer of malpractices within government sphere which worsen with time, they would strike in one of two manners or both: reform or/and revolution, depending on how ‘headstrong’ this cancer is.

Looking at Malaysia’s political barometer, a reform is most probable. In this reform, the reformists would shore capitalism and the non-reformists would completely transform it and neither would bring benefit to the monarchs be they constitutional or not. So the price of Wan Aziz Datuk Seri Wan Mohamed’s strategy in this case is the nationwide negligence to the need of a functioning monarchy, because in time, people will forget the bond between reform and religious, socialistic and Utopian sentiments.

Emphasize on nourishing good moral values among the youngsters by way of practice of the older generations and not on giving away pamphlets explaining about ‘Perlembagaan Malaysia’ or any information of close resemblance which are already in ‘Buku Teks Sejarah’.

We love our king.

Nevertheless, as much as you may hate the Tun, we should not overlook the good things he has done or said even though you may hold the opinion that he did more bad than good. After all, the British were colonialists and there can be nothing good about colonialism. However, when the British left, they left behind a good education, administrative and legal system.’

On top of all, DEB/NEP was meant to reduce the socio-economic gap between races in Malaysia. It targeted 30% of Bumiputeras’ economic share (in all spectra) but ended up reaching an amount not even close to that. Since then, it was replaced by NDP but some of its policies continued up till the present day.

Provocative claims regarding the DEB/NEP exist as early as since the DEB/NEP was promulgated. Some say that DEB/NEP reduces the Chinese minority to second class citizens while others who prefer a more ‘professional’ way to put it claim that DEB/NEP is systematically marginalizing the Chinese. The problem with these firebrands is that they constantly use their conspiracy theories such stated above to foment even more conspiracy theories or such and make sure that these theories are discernible to every being. According to Royal Professor Ungku Aziz, ‘ketuanan Melayu’ is a theory but Social Contract is not. Do the math, put it in the case and you’ll get = DEB/NEP should not be slandered by ‘ketuanan Melayu’ and no one was reduced to second class citizen. But the lot just love theories and anomalies.

NEP is no new abbreviation, coined. The Russians came up with their version of NEP in 1921 to promote a better economic growth. They switched from a centralized to a semi-centralized form of economy. Vladimir Lenin defended the Russian government’s decision at that time by saying that Russia is not civilized enough to completely become a socialist country. Later on, the world witnessed the introduction of ‘Glasnost’ and ‘Perestroika’ but does that mean the Russians are to agree with the visionary notion of Hegel and Fukayama?

Malaysia is conceived by an Islamic form of economy. This form of economy, though forgotten, works in a beautiful and mysterious way in the sense that it is Laissez-faire and moral values, combined. Helping the poor and needy is a moral value.

In Islam, one should work hard to yield a good life and yet, there are concepts of ‘Zakat’ and ‘Sadaqah’ to assist those in dire need of chances, and resources in any constructive ways, and a macrocosmic part of so mentioned assistance knows no difference between a Muslim and a non Muslim.

As all of us agree to the idea that helping those in need is morally right and economical competitiveness is the fruit of a free market, a fine line is drawn between fraudulent acts and acts of charity, between just and unjust, between the need to dump an existing system or the need to alter it and between moral considerations and expediency, and best yet, it draws us together in pursuit of greater goods. Fight for open talks and debates, fight against hot air talks.

If again this issue be brought to public attention by uncivilized ways, maybe the Muslims in Malaysia are not yet Islamic enough or maybe the non Muslims are not yet high-minded enough.

Let’s all be sensibly Pareto-like, stop ‘plaguing’ the goods and start ‘curing’ the bads for roughly 20% of the input errors typically cause the lion's share of defects.

SPR, the need to prove transparency.

In the 3 elections of the past, both major and minor, SPR had been heavily criticized by the opposition coalition for allegedly lacking transparency. This is a very serious acquisition but SPR must be diplomatic. By doing so, SPR would at least clear the nebulous mind of the people and reflect its true identity of ‘an independent body by the people, for the people’.

Going back through the passage of history, we find reasons to take allegations of undemocratic acts as something to be reckoned with.

For example, we have Singapore.

In 1945 after the Japanese were chased out of Malaya and Singapore (or Syonan, if you will) by the British, the people started to itch. They saw independence as a ‘once and for all’ solution to the problems.

While the spirit of Nationalism burned in Malaya, Singaporeans at that time were conceived by the same idea, slightly different, led by their leader; David Marshall. It wasn’t too long until Lee Kuan Yew’s PAP came into scene. With the trendy hope of gaining independence, both these leaders decided with the lot to join Malaya not just for a speedy independence but also to take advantage of the communist clean-ups Malaya was on to, backed by the western pack strongly.

Some years before this union, British agreed to grant Singapore a ‘semi-autonomy’ which left Singapore’s defense and foreign affairs matters on the desk of British Colonial Office. Later, an election was held; an election British could not bear to lose (not especially to PAP) for the sake of keeping Malaya free from communist influence; a legacy inherited by the PAP left-wingers, but they did.

If the British were to use their everything to secure their vision of a democratic new world, the election wouldn’t have turn out so.

SPR is trustworthy, for the sake of peace. To pick up the gauntlet, we need a trustworthy and braver SPR.

As the UMNO crowd march Ezam and cheer his ‘use or being used’ political theory which contradicts numerous, previous statements of his, during his freelancing days, Anwar sits back and watches. It had always been the best of Anwar’s interest to not ‘crucify’ Ezam no matter how far he goes, and why is that?

Ezam, in the latest statement he made to the press, condemned the controversial act of ‘jumping ship’ by labeling it as unethical and ‘not so Statesman-like’, while creating a diversion for the mass from seeing ‘his own finger pointing to himself’ by stressing on the fact that no political party owned him, a priori, and that it is an act of faith to rejoin UMNO in its may-day.

Although Ezam, the former PKR front liner, seemed ‘calm and ready to drop bombs’ for UMNO, it would be unwise for us to label his crossover as not fishy. “I changed side because UMNO’s principles are changing for the better. Not about the people at the helm”, Ezam declared.

On the cautious side is Hishamuddin Tun Hussein with his ‘three questions’. Why should UMNO take this ‘special’ newcomer blindly? He displayed high-level atrocity and bought his way out of it with such insubstantial reasoning; for the changing fundamental principles of UMNO. From the time he abandoned UMNO and became UMNO’s nemesis, personified, until now; pasca PRU-12, the whole of UMNO worked hard, hand in hand, to preserve the qualities of UMNO which symbolizes solidarity, or in other word; to protect the principles of UMNO which they uphold. He, at the other end, dedicated his life to criticizing and burdening UMNO and digging UMNO’s backyard. Should he say that change of leadership inspired him to deliberately cross over, UMNO members would question; what took him so long to realize that improvements are in UMNO to stay?

It is not every day that you have high-profile figure from the opposition dropping by to say hello and submit the filled lifetime UMNO membership form, and directly to the PM too. But when it happens, you get the tickle deep within that renders you constantly inquiring; what exactly does this person stand for and upon what will his stand shatter? If it is a function of time, the question would be; how long will it take this person until he crosses again? This is no gimmick for when Ezam does that again, he would expose UMNO’s weak points to the opposition just as he did, only this time around, severer in degree of destruction it may cause.

Ezam is no new kid on the block. Right you are. But mind you, he had been accelerating his way in PKR towards power, nearly unbelievably, until new influential faces emerge, at least to Anwar’s recent policies, and that is just what he craves; power. This is Ezam in action and inaction.

UMNO should accept Ezam and even Anuar Shaari like honored house owner but the members should eye Ezam and his gang from now onwards.

Tun is urging UMNO members who stand tall with him to quit UMNO and he is firing the first kickoff. Many criticized his action while fail to see the mechanism he is trying to work out. They say that his initiative is causing a run back effect that strengthens Abdullah’s camp and will win the Prime Minister his support like never before. Having learnt invaluable political experiences hard-knock style, it is not likely that Tun made a wrong decision. The pressure is immense. Malaysians are pushing their way to freedom or ‘Freiheit’, what German philosophers described as ‘Zufaller Grundsatz der Demokratie’ or the principle of democracy by coincidence, and they are full force.

The Prime Minister’s camp is right now quickly exhausting the strategies once devised by Tun to win supports. Meetings are being held across the country to discuss about issues such; the probabilities of 30 – 40 parliament members, crossing and what proof RPK has to drag DS Najib into the Altantuya murder case alongside Razak Baginda which is on his way to behind bars, and mind you, we are talking about number two in command, which totally matters to UMNO. But is it substantial?

Tun in the same scene, would not have entertained such claims. Tun in the same scene would have reformed UMNO for the taking. Because at the end of the day, people would have more faith in those who took bold action by quitting, then in those who faithfully supported UMNO’s left wing such Mukhriz’s bloc and finally in those who remained dormant which equals to none, this call by Tun is something to be reckoned with.

Remember the saying; ‘ Macht ist auch die Macht der Lüge gemeint’. At least lying to oneself.

Premierminister Abdullah ist im Vergleich zu Tun Mahatir, kraftloser und grauer. Obwohl, er spricht arabisch, studiert Islam und tritt gern als Vorbeter auf. Premier Abdullah war Innenminister in Mahatirs Ära und hat eine künftig öffentliche aufschreiben der Regierungsaufträge versprochen.

Meine bisherige, persönliche malaysische Politik-Beobachtung zeigt, dass die Ausschreitung in Malaysia verbreitet kräftig, schon wie eine Krankheit. Die kaputte Demokratie (was ist eigentlich Demokratie?) verursacht diese ‚Krankheit‘ und es ist nachgewiesen, dass die Bekämfungsmethode effektiv aus demselben Faktor erzeugt werden soll. A friend of mine who also happens to be my junior at secondary once asked me;” why is lady justice blindfolded?” I spontaneously answered that the law should not be exercised under ‘influences’. That is the answer which I supposed, not affirmative, but what I considered to be fine for an ad hoc question. This guy’s great admiration of justice made him enter law school. On the other hand, my belief in solidity and simplicity of justice that rules all politics and beyond, such pictured by Lorenzetti’s Fresco; The Allegory of Good Government and Bad Government, made my supposition affirmative. At the end of the day, which one of us would do justice better? This is always my unanswered question.

There is a fine line between those who only believe in something and those who are willing to sacrifice time and money for her or his belief and admiration, by aspiration of sustaining or changing that something.

The people of Malaysia are with no doubt, doubtful of the nation’s judiciary system. This set-back might have started since 1988 as some might say. It then escalated to the worse, being fueled by incidents such government cover-ups and biased, high-profile trials until now when unrests are discernable and God knows what awaits us in the near future.

Lorenzetti’s idea behind the mural is clear. By the time when people stop believing in justice and its many systems which uphold it, they will start to think only of themselves and forget kindness and unity. This will later attenuate the effectiveness of a government. This mural was painted in the Sala dei Nove or The Room of Nine to remind the leaders of what calamities might result from abuse of power.

What will the abuse of power in a multi-racial country like Malaysia resort to? What scientific, economic and political developments which took place since 13th of May 1969 till now that might amplify the ‘ugliness’ of potential unrests that God help, not, might take place?

In the wave of modernity, Malays in general have forgotten their real course; towards proving that they are worth of inheriting the land, securing the rights of all Malaysians and protecting justice, at least those teenagers and youths who contribute to societal moral decline. In this fast moving era, the world has come to know Malaysia or Malays with terms like ‘Mat Rempit’,’ Bohsia’, ‘Bohjan’, ‘Sumbang Mahram’ and so forth, whether we like it or not. The kaput education systems, both at home and at school personified to the incapability of the previous generation to properly educate this generation and the same mistake of this generation which propels to future ‘handicapped’ generation, are to be blamed.

Notice that ‘Mat Rempit’ will never be ‘Mat Cemerlang’ and all Malays will not ‘recourse’ overnight. Neither will DEB nor JEB empower ethnic Malay and Indian economy or at least convince them to leave behind poverty through blood, sweat and tears, the way it is. Truly, it is serious implementations of every plan at every level by brave people who still have some goodwill left in them, that do the trick.

It is by listening to the voice of the people or public opinions and the voice of those who attained wisdom through ‘hard-knocks’ like Tun Dr. Mahathir that will give this government a good chance.

The ‘Yang Dipertua’ should consider putting Kinabatangan under the ‘microscope’ just to ensure good behavior in the parliament. Same goes to the over-spirited Kit Siang. This is true considering the incident on this day when he questioned the rights of the ‘Yang Dipertua’. It is truly not the question of ‘democracy mockery’ or ‘the man behind the throne’ or ‘the puppet master’ anymore when an ‘unprecedented’ interruption is noticeable during the premier or when a quarrel occurs or when these ‘sober’ leaders get personal discussing petty issues.

Why Self-Reliant Learning (SRL) for A-Level students should fail at GMI.

Observing the mischief of this system after some period of its implementation from a professional point of view, one might notice the kind of travesty which lurks amongst fancy jargons, pretentiously and ostentatiously. The idea might have started from petty resentments of mainstream education styles or eagerness to catch attentions by mongering a fresh, new concept for experimentation through the media. But failures strike the colors of such systems best and the truth that mainstream spheres provide excellent security leads us but to one question; will GMI admit its wrong and change its educational policy regarding the GAPPs?

We shall examine SRL in its true form, A-Level in its true nature and the inadequacies of the existing GMI-version SRL.

What is A-Level? A-Level is the substitute of former HSC academic qualification acknowledged as prerequisite for university-level study. A-Level examinations are so predictable that a 25-years-in-a-row grade increment is noticeable in the UK and the syndicates stressed out that it is affirmatively due to improved and more experienced teaching methods. You will find the word ‘prerequisite’ most significant in this discussion. This word is also used in defining the first level of the hierarchical Taxonomy of Educational Objectives by Benjamin Bloom. Bloom’s approach is both holistic and in line with all the educational and philosophical –isms such Cognitivism, Constructivism and modern theories.

To base this discussion on this fabulous taxonomy is to keep it coherently relevant. The similarity between Bloom’s prerequisite and that of the A-Level is the required role-play of the teachers or assistants or guiders, if you will, in the field, both, qualitatively and quantitatively regarding time spent with the students.

This is clearly outlined by Cambridge in its a priori suggestions of which we are well aware of (the learning hours). The least GMI could do is try to have teachers fulfill these requirements, but the unforgivable past seems to disadvantage the students rather than benefit them. It is unfair to station rebuttals to the above statement on will- or spirit-deficit of the students or the incompetency of their strategies for the problem did not recently developed but rather escalated from tradition of vaunted malpractices. This claim comes with too many proofs to be erroneous.

Truly, SRL is substantial to a bona fide higher education. Then again, the gateway is A-Level. A healthy education starts with the ‘affective’ process of ‘receiving’ knowledge passively without which the ‘scaffoldings’ would be too weak to support forthcoming information or worse yet; misleading. Then only can ‘responding’, ‘valuing’, ‘organizing’, and ‘characterizing’ can take place. The same principal applies to ‘cognitive’ process, in which the correct knowledge provides the ground for ‘comprehension’, ‘application’, ’analysis’, ‘synthesis’ and ‘evaluation’. Even if a student is fit for SRL at ground level, it would take an absurdly lot of time to make it through trials and failures.

This distortion in natural learning process imposes threats not only on knowledge development but also on creativity, motivation and morale of the students. A long exposure to imaginary incapability misinterpreted to have originated from ones natural, unchangeable, and limited intelligence would cripple potential students. The students, then, adapt to the new surrounding consisting majorly of degenerating laddive, though, ‘empty’ individuals amongst students and teachers alike, constant failures and let-downs and so forth.

I shall finish this article with a scholastic and constructivistic example. Let us imagine a student getting to know m-field or a magnetic field. SRL would tell the student that an equally important e-field or electric field also exists. The problem with e-field is that it is not included that in-depth in primary or secondary syllabus. A book will tell the student that an e-field is the force per unit charge which would be felt by a sufficiently small test charge at that point. To confirm this and quench the student’s thirst for other information, the student would check other books. Yet, the same or about the same definition appears which does answer questions like; how does e-field affect m-field? How does e-field function in light propagation? And so on. If you say that such questions would not benefit the student much in A-Level tests, you are robbing SRL of its rights. A fully functional teacher would do just fine in helping the inquisitive student by explaining e-field holistically in a nutshell.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE PUNY QUESTION: what is sleep?

You’ve heard that sleep encompasses most of our lifetime. Well, it’s not just some theory. Thorough examinations of sleeping behaviors and disorders over the past decades led scientists to understanding sleep better. They even unintendedly scored Islamic science some points.

Basically, each one of us has about 5 major sleep phases and in each phase, the character of brainwave changes. Many times in life we experience daydreaming; in class, lectures, briefings, you name it. This is actually an introductory phase of sleep when your mind’s wanderlust makes you ‘abandon’ reality. While awake, your conscious mind emits high-frequency beta brainwave (measurable by an EEG apparatus). Entering the first phase of sleep, the brainwave switches to alpha. If uninterrupted, the brainwave will again decrease in frequency entering theta and it will switch to and fro between alpha and theta before entering the second phase. This is when your brain ‘dismounts’ in K-complexities before entering deep sleep of delta brainwave.

Phase 3 and 4 of delta brainwave is very important to the brain, justifiable by the discrimination the brain is willing to impose on other phases upon scarcity of time. This is when your body replenishes and rejuvenates. Blood enters muscle streams to ‘repair’, et cetera. Bodily activities drop to the lowest.
Surprisingly, phase 5 exhibits brainwave just as active as when you are awake, clearly seen through the REM or the physically Rapid Eye Movements. Scientists proposed that this might be the phase when your body assimilates the information it gathered while awake. That explains why about 50% of newborn’s long sleep is being occupied by REM phase.

But the beauty of these phases (its interchangeability, its function in mitigating the stress of real world and how these all connects to Islamic science revealed way back (before humans think that sleeping is a complete ‘shutdown’), by virtues of the Almighty and the beloved Prophet) is yet to be explained through the Circadian Rhythm.

Circadian Rhythm in a nutshell is the cycle of bodily temperature. It is amazing, equally; irritating, to find out that preliminary science at primary is a justified lie. Body temperature does change in degrees of two. It is nearly minimum at times between 4 a.m. to 6 a.m., increases until a slight decline in the afternoon at about 12 (when you start to feel the urge to sleep) and continues till up to 10 p.m. when the downturn officially starts and it goes on and on.

Do you see how body temperature affects the urge to sleep? Do you understand why in Islam, it is encouraged to have a short nap in the afternoon (namely Qailulah) in order to increase the capacity of informational assimilation in REM phase, increase the efficiency of distributed-reparations of day (12 in the afternoon) and of night in the deep sleep phase and finally; to shift the Circadian Rhythm graph to maximum Geist performance in the morning?

So what is a quality sleep? In fact, what is the ‘path’ of a quality life?

BE STRONG. BOYCOTT DUTCH PRODUCTS.

Lately, we’ve come across articles suggesting that we should not do the boycott on Dutch products. It is truly shocking to find out that those behind such suggestions are Muslims individuals who insist that they are actually helping the Ummah by doing so. They say that boycotting Dutch products would cripple Dutch economy (which is good, as a lesson), hence, causes trouble to Muslims residing within Holland. The basis of this argument is weak and clearly seen through the microcosmic scope of the analogy.

Quite, what will happen if we are being boycotted (force your feet into their shoes)? On top of all, this is no scene of countries forming pro and con coalitions. The zenith of this boycotting process is Holland learning that Muslims still respect their religion and would not let freedom of speech smear it AS LONG AS Muslims around the world understand that this is a peace process and try to prove Geert Wilders wrong by staying away from riots, whatsoever. Using the probability of Muslims’ upheaval which might get physical as a reason to NOT ACT STRONG is LAME.

To me and most Muslims, exercising consumerism power through boycotts in large or small scale is the best way to act while not being negligent. Muslims in Holland may choose not to act strongly due to their vulnerabilities to actions by Dutch government, so they shouldn’t. How can WE justify our dormancy?

True, that Balkenende made a statement against Geert Wilders and that it is unfair to rule these two individuals under one judgment. But manys the time people come as one, politically, to straighten important issues up and through this act of boycotting Dutch products, we are simply telling Dutch government to look at this matter seriously and AS IMPORTANT, exercise their power against Geert Wilders and never again level our religion with terrorism. THIS IS DEMOCRACY.

To say that Muslims should not retaliate (peacefully) for they share a big ‘crunch’ of Dutch economy is the same as claiming wealth over Islam. Compromising the purity of this religion is unacceptable. It is a FALSE CONCEPTION that by boycotting Dutch products, the hostility level between Muslims and non-Muslims would peak.

This boycott marks the decisive point that will determine how people would picture Islam. It would also educate future Muslim generations to not take Islam lightly nor extremely.

Be smart. Act strong. Use logic.

Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad called upon Muslims worldwide to boycott Dutch products in protest of a film released Monday on the Internet which criticised Islam’s holy book, the Quran.

“We must not be afraid of losing trade with them. If we do, then we won’t be thinking as Muslims, but more for our own self intersts,” he told reporters after opening the Malaysian Islamic Welfare Organisation’s (Perkim) 46th annual general meeting at a hotel here, today.

Dr Mahathir was referring to Fitna, a 15-minute film posted on a website on Thursday that highly criticised Islam, setting verses of the Quran against a background of violent images from terrorist attacks.
Dutch legislator Geert Wilders created the film, which also shows statements from radical clerics and cited verses from the Quran interspersed with images of the Sept 11 attack on the United States, the 2004 commuter train bombings in Spain and the murder later that year of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh on an Amsterdam street.

“They will continue to do this until we show to them Islam is a good religion, that we are not violent people, that we don’t tell lies to people...but this must be shown in practice by the Muslim community,” he said.

Legalization of Gay, women and children trafficking for sex, weeds. I know that The Hague is in this country but that doesn’t change anything, does it? Before criticizing Islam, they might want to ask what ‘color’ their history of colonization is. Is it white or is it blood-stained? On the other hand, Tarikh el-Islam or The History of Islam is undeniably just-driven.

This is certainly not a vague claim. Check your history books and commentaries but NOT those ‘edited’ or written by figures like wafa sultan (!).

The administrator watched this disturbing video of Fitna on YouTube and could not understand why this case-sensitive video was not banned. Do they really NEED Muslims to launch another ‘boycott attack’? So be it.

The administrator stands strong with Dr M’s call for Muslims around the globe to rally against Dutch products until they take away this video, until YouTube does something about it and until Geert Wilders apologizes to all Muslims around the world, OPENLY. Here are reasons why:

1> --1--The Quranic translations within this video are unspecific without considering the target group of the Surahs and the reasons for revelations (Asbaab e-Nuzul) rendering the entire video invalid.

2> --2--The video shows images of Muslims and connects these images with terrorism but does not inform the viewers of the source of the images and how the two entities connect. This is less than informative and is illogical.

3> --3--The creator of the video is motivated by fallacious hatred and not by intention to seek truth and reveal it as the compilation made has too broad a perspective that viewers could not determine the similarity which the clips share. Again, the target group of the speeches in the clips (in Arabic and English) and the intentions of the speeches were not revealed showing how the creator is eager of implementing fallacies.

4> --4--The Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) cartoons, we knew, created turmoil and unrests. Yet, the creator included one of them and repeatedly too suggesting that THEY ASKED FOR IT.

5> --5--One of the clips involves a small child’s expression. This is totally unacceptable. Labeling an innocent child to be a zealot is universally WRONG. Blame the parents if you wish but LEAVE THE CHILD ALONE-tabula rasa-. (not another one of your ‘child trafficking’ now, is it?).

6> --6--The intention of the video is crystal clear; to label all Muslims to have AT LEAST the smallest urge to commit crime in the name of their religion. This is definitely wrong as in the Quran, ALLAH S.W.T. commands all Muslims to treat humans fairly regardless of their religion. AN example to this is;”O ye who believe! stand out firmly for Allah, as witnesses to fair dealing, and let not the hatred of others to you make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just: that is next to piety: and fear Allah. For Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do.”[Sura El-Ma’idah, Aayah 8]-wonder why they INTENTIONALLY missed this one in the video-.

7> --7--It is not true that Huduud (a branch of Islamic Law to punishment of adultery, thievery, et cetera, crimes) is cruel. A proof to this is the case which occurred long time ago in the age of Muhammad (PBUH) and amongst the Sahaabah in which Muaz (Allah is well pleased with him) committed adultery but the noble prophet REFUSED to IMMEDIATELY take action on him. This is a good example of how it is VERY HARD to actually deliver the punishment of Huduud.

8> --8--Would it be fair for us to rule the commentaries made by the Palestinians in this video to be inhumane as we do not go through their sorrows and hardships of living in a ravaging battlefield, of having children be killed mercilessly among them, of having bloody history like the ‘ethnic cleansing’ of Shatilla and Sabra and of being ignored? Would it be fair for the non-Muslims to label ALL Muslims as terrorist (what Islamophobia suggests) while not bothering about the truth (9-11 report was INCOMPLETE and closed despite private investigating committees’ dissatisfactions suggesting high probability of conspiracy).

Geert Wilders is the LAST kind of man a peaceful world needs. Let us boycott their products (peaceful mean).

And I wonder why The Sun newspaper is not so concern of this issue like their 'buddy'; NST. All they ever publish are claims of individuals 'attacking' Islam with weak ideas.

IDRIS JUSOH OR AHMAD, A PEOPLE'S PLAY.

Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin of Terengganu is by far, the best Agong Malaysia had ever known and there is no doubt about that considering His Majesty’s outstanding educational background and experience. Truly, His Majesty’s voice should not be neglected. But the ‘unique’ role the people of Malaysia are playing in this ‘triangular conflict’ involving The Sultan and UMNO is slowly resulting to disadvantages on UMNO’s side, hence, the Malays’ side.

Whether or not Dato’ Ahmad Said be the new Terengganu’s Menteri Besar is definitely the question. It might be about time that the Sultan step his game up, but some discretions are required in determining the type of cognition involved.

In this crisis, both the Sultan and UMNO could come to a win-win conclusion as long as Malaysians relinquish from provoking both parties. Instead of focusing on why UMNO would literally want to contrast the Sultan’s words (and NOT disobey a decree), the people should focus on which Menteri Besar would best fit Terengganu’s needs for they voted for UMNO.

The heuristic cognition of the Malaysians is obvious; if you cannot understand a mechanism, deal with the outcome a posteriori. This ‘backward analysis’ tends to create unrest and at the end; the collision between the two powers.

The dissemination of such cognition would only prove to the world our incompetence in handling local politics. What His Majesty is trying to convey is his great care for his people and the exercises of power which he is capable of and what UMNO is trying to practice is actually democracy. Normally, this sort of conflict ends with an understanding but the major role of the people is still evident.

If it is true that UMNO is responsible for a ‘breach in moral conduct’ during the previous PRU-12, deal with it in a different frame. An immediate, major change from provocation of the above mentioned case would NOT likely take place for UMNO won with a substantial count of votes at Terengganu but it would leave a ‘scar’ to UMNO. Let it be remembered that good or bad a ruling party be, the people tell.

Politics (Siasah) is not new to Islam. As a religion which covers every aspects of human life to the very microcosms of it, Islam is not as what appears to those who seeks a ‘modern’ Islam; a chip of the old block which needs indirect ‘modern touch’ but in fact; a completed order (syumul). It is only with the existence of this small group of people who are astonished by the Quranic verse:” And if you fear you cannot do justice, marry only one, that would be best for you", and yet, determined to interpret the contents of The Holly Book that the lot governed by their outrageous desires start to think bravely that it is not they that need Islam, but it is Islam which needs them, hence, this blasphemous community. I would, with much patience, remind you from this community that those who minister the Syariah Law know not just the exact meaning of Quranic Verses but also the history behind it and the Hadith relating to it, the very people who you call Taliban heads. They also know that the verse which states that there is no compulsion in religion (al Baqarah, 2:256; Yunus, 10:99-100; al Ghashiyah, 88:22) is an address to the non-believers, not the Muslims. So I’d advice; stop making fool of yourself.

Amina Wadud (I refuse to admit her doctorate because of the embarrassment she caused the Ummah when she led the prayer) is a confused woman and yet the saluted scholar of this community. It is with her ‘guidance’ that the people of this community with their rich fallacies are actively associating mistreatments and unjust conducts of the religious people and the Syariah courts inclusive; their personnel with Islam. It is clear what Zainah Anwar meant when she said that the issue of politics should not be misconceived with that of religion. Yet, she made such association as above mentioned and took her ‘Zainah Dream’ to a well-known stage; the political stage? Here is what I would say; it gives the ugly impression to those who know what politics really mean to not provide substantial evidence when you sum up a group of people negatively while preaching your fresh, homemade version of Islam.

It might be because of this community that we are seeing celebrities even in Malaysia who do not wear hijab, expose their Aurat and mingles without thinking about Halal and Haram that give Salam, say Alhamdulillah and Insya-Allah. It might be because of this community that people are using Islam for their own pleasures like wearing hijab only when attending Syariah Court (so that people think that they are good), fighting over issues which threaten the position of Islam in legislation side by side with the non-believers like the one of Lina Joy, be proud to declare their disbelieve and who knows; accept what are similar to the Indonesian Panca Sila components. This is appalling.

Hitherto, it is clear that SIS’s fight is no difference than that of the Western Women Movements; equality through liberty. But will this Westernization bring us any good so to ask; did it bring any good to the west? Like the denying of hijab in some Islamic Countries, equality did nothing but further lower women’s strata in the society. Stop SIS!

I feel great sorrow on behalf of the manipulated, though, brave Indians who gathered. It would be a great deal done for our country but to have more brave Indians believing in peace and just. God knows what the demonstrators did that forced the police to take actions against them. They will retaliate if threaten as what all of us would do. In the radical spirit of fanaticism, what reached our hearing are only provocative rumours which sources we do not care. If what happened during the rally was ill-treatment, what should Malay call the incidents which took place during the 'reformasi' a couple of years ago. Tear gas, acid spray, FRUs, Malay against Malay? But with that comes the freedom that we are enjoying today.If the treatment of the rally was not democratic, what do you call some interventions of police in PAS's open lectures. But with that we come to understand the real purpose of opposition parties in a democratic system; not to seize government but to rectify. If you are displeased by Indian temple demolishing, do you not know that there are also masjid demolishing? Maybe not because we dont rally. We believe in peace that we share with others and now its solved. A good nation needs everything to be under control and that includes having worship premises in place. Leaders are not perfect but sometimes they are rightful. Lots of terms used in my comment are not known to the commonnies. Those who cannot understand how this complex system works tend to 'trust' the simple explanation preached by their leaders. Malaysia and Malaysians are still young and there are still many ‘things’ ahead. A sheer waste it is when bright Indians fail to explain to their people and Malaysians as one in general of the logic behind government’s actions and good intentions. With much respects, for we are one; Malaysians.
